Best Places to Buy NJ Lottery Released by Star Ledger

Rarely do we see stories in our local newspapers on subjects we are actually interested, or truly helpful. The Star Ledger, after much homework, has managed to do both with one story today. They released a list of the best and worst places to buy NJ Lottery tickets.
The Newark based newspaper poured over lottery statistics from as far back as 2005, and came to the conclusion that location truly is everything. The best place to buy your NJ Lottery tickets, Linwood. The worst, Deerfield.
The article is published on the Star Ledger's website NJ.com, but if you just want to see the chart from the article, then click the link below.

Camden Waterfront Pictures The Nice Side of Camden

Yes Camden has a nice side. It's the area on the Waterfront that never gets talked about. The Camden Waterfront has attractions that any town would dream about.
The first photo shows the beautiful red brick walkway which runs alongside the Delaware River and stretches from the base of the Ben Franklin Bridge, past the Camden Riversharks baseball stadium, the Adventure Aquarium, a small marina, and ending at the docked Battleship New Jersey.
The next two photos are of some of the great sites you will see inside the Adventure Aquarium. This facility is worth the trip alone.
The fourth photo is an aerial shot of the Battleship New Jersey, a massive site docked on the Camden Waterfront. While impressive enough to just look at, the ship also offers tours.
The next two shots were taken at the Camden Riversharks baseball stadium. As you can see, it is located directly below the Ben Franklin Bridge, and sponsored primarily by Campell Soup, which is also located in Camden.
Finally, the last two shots are of my current residence, the Victor Lofts, also located on the Camden Waterfront. The luxury apartments are housed in the historic, former RCA Victor building. We even have a stained glass window of the famed Victor Dog and Victrola that lights up the sky at night.
I hope I have shown you the good side of Camden. Maybe I will finally stop getting those looks when I tell people I live in Camden. Afterall, I have a college campus, Rutgers Camden, a baseball stadium, beautiful view of Philadelphia from across the Delaware River, an aquarium, the Camden Children's Garden, a marina, a concert venue I can walk to, and a battleship all in my neighborhood. What do you have a library?
Maybe I should be the one looking funny at you!

Extreme Heat Warning for New Jersey

The temperatures in New Jersey are expected to approach the 100 degree mark over the next two days. We all hear the same warnings, dress in light clothing, drink plenty of water, and check on the elderly. While every one of us will do the first two, how many pay attention to the last? Not enough!
We are all too busy or just assume that everyone has air condition. While everyone may have air condition, it doesn't mean they use it. That fact never hit home more with me than when I stopped in to visit my mother unannounced. There she sat sweating with the air condition off.
When I asked her why the air was off? She told me it wasn't really hot, and she didn't want to waste the energy. Just old,old school thinking.
I had to turn the air on for her. Who knows if she kept it on.
So Tomorrow and Thursday, after you dress light, and drink plenty of water, check on the elderly. Make sure they actually have the air condition on. It may be the coolest part of your day.

Great White Shark Spotted at Jersey Shore

A boater called the Coast Guard to report the sighting of a twelve foot long Great White shark in the surf off of Island Beach State Park. The Coast Guard and lifeguards both were unable to confirm the sighting. However, experts say it would not be unusual for a Great White to be off the coast of New Jersey at this time of year.
In case you don't know the story that was the basis for the movie "Jaws" took place right here in Jersey.
I have to admit if I had to chose between a Great White and the cast of MTV'S Jersey Shore, I would take the Great White. We would all be a lot safer!
